Coil Car and Coil Handling Equipment
Coil Handling Equipment comes in all shapes and sizes and dependant upon where the centre of gravity is on the car, some can be very dangerous if not designed correctly, so you need a true professional with many years of expert experience to incorporate all of the required safety features you expect and need.
Safety implimentation is very important here at Saxon Engineering because we put our reputation on the line every time we construct heavy duty material handling equipment. We have many safety "coded features" which we build into your project simply as a part of our quality control proceedures.
Saxon Engineering also designs and manufacturers Coil handling lifts. see bottom for more info.
More information about the example on the right.
This is just one of many designs we have constructed
B.R.O.N.X. secured a large order in 1987, from Tubisud Italia Sp.A, to design, build and install, a paint process line to coat sheet steel.
Late in the contract, it was decided to handle the 15,000kg coils of steel with a mobile coil car, rather than the proposed static type. With only 10 weeks to commissioning, SAXON were asked to advise.
The specification called for loading by over-head crane, 750mm of lift travel, a special platform top incorporating soft faced coil location rollers, 25m of linear traverse with no trailing cables & the unit to be self contained and electrically interfaced to the system.
A SAXON compact heavy duty powered mobile scissor lift coil car.
The 15,000kg capacity lift was mounted on a robust base frame, provided with four flanged rail wheels, two free and two motor driven, reversible and braked, via a reduction gear box, electrical controls, limit switches positional interlocks etc, were incorporated within the chassis and power fed from bus-bars sited in a continuous under floor duct.
The scissor mechanism was jig bored and welded, fitted with glacier DU precision bearings, special bottom stops to accept impact crane loading, zinc plated machined components and all parts easily replaced.
Equi-opposed four ram design, was utilised for smooth operation.
Coil Lifters
It is important to note that not all coil cars can be "ground loaded" due to factors such as location (external or internal) weight to load balance, static, mobile and or difficult entry points.
Saxon can design and construct either a static or mobile coil car lifter according to your requirements. Contact us today. |
